Scientist & KONG
Scientist Dubs KONG to Free the Yellow King and Save the Swamp
(CD/Digital)
Out Nov 13, 2025
LISTEN / PRE-ORDER
The Jamaican master Scientist takes on KONG, reworking The Yellow King’s Revenge into a world of his own reckoning. What began as a raw, cinematic explosion of psych and dub reggae, becomes a left-of-field, twisted kaleidoscope of dub invention in the hands of Scientist.
Originally recorded in Melbourne by KONG, and then remixed by Scientist in LA, this collaboration bridges continents and generations. It’s KONG’s 21st-century apocalyptic sound-world meeting Scientist’s fearless dub craft, and at last the Yellow King is freed and the swamp is saved.
Limited Edition CD

The stars aligned for us to bring Scientist to Australia for the first time ever in October 2023.
SCIENTIST TOUR TEE
Presented by Holiday Maker the Scientist Encounters Australia Tour 2023 centred around Scientist at the mixing console * the high priest at his altar of dub * where he performed live dub sets and mixed live supergroups curated by innovative Australian artists. Shows also featured guest MCs and DJs combining to create an iconic celebration of dub and reggae music culture in Australia.
Scientist (Hopeton Overton Brown) began his career in Kingston, Jamaica in the 1970s working with dub pioneer King Tubby, where he developed his own mixing philosophy. In the early 1980s he was principal engineer at Channel One and Tuff Gong Studio, where he rose to prominence with his extravagant mixing style, wild album titles and distinctive cover artworks.
An innovator in the fields of electronics, amplification and studio techniques, his work continues to influence dub, remix and music culture globally.
